About us Abbotsford Gay Men's website grew from the interest in its yahoo group also named Abbotsford Gay Men. The yahoo group was created in December of 2004. The website was created the following summer July 2005. Both created by Out in BC Media of Abbotsford BC. Its intent is to give a forum or platform for the Gay Men's community of Abbotsford, Mission, Chilliwack to communicate with one another. Our hope is, with the website and the group itself, great opportunities will be created for meetings, friendships, and activities for men in the area. Today the Yahoo group has over 400 members. And contunues to gow each day with new members. In August 2007 the website Abbotsford Gay Men took on a whole new look. A forum was added, as well as a chatroom, subject matter of the site was increased, as well as the over all lay out becoming more of a online magazine. All this and still keeping the local area of Gay Men as it main focus. Future business plans will always adhere to the concept that Abbotsford Gay Men is for the Gay Men within the local area of Abbotsford, Mission, Chilliwack. It is our intent that there should never be a fee for becoming a member. Also there will never be different levels of memberships. "Every member will always have a Premier Membership for free" at Abbotsford Gay Men. Future goals also include the creation of a social club for Abbotsford Gay Men. Which may include the following activities bowling, swimming, camping, sports. It is hoped that the cost of these activities will be discounted to our members so financial issues will not be a barrier to participation It is our belief that the GLBTQ community is no richer and in fact has less disposable income than the non GLBTQ community and that this is because of continued discrimination. Because of this fact; contents, advise, advertising on this site will always be expected to; first improve the financial, spiritual, medical, social positions of gay men in the area. Then and only then will any other considerations be discussed or considered. |
